Christmas 1948

Hi everybody, I'm still here.  I know I've been MIA lately but you all know how it is this time of year.  I have been coloring Christmas images like crazy but have not made any of them into cards yet.  So, I thought I would share one of my most favorite photos with you.  My parents, Mary and Howard Washburn, were born in 1930.  They married October 22, 1948.  My dad was in the Army, stationed in Alaska at that time.  This is a photo of their very first Christmas together.

My parents are the cutie patooties on the right.  My dad is standing in front of the tree and my mom is standing in front of him.  That was their only Christmas without children, as the very next August my sister Janet was born.  Following her was my sister Judy, then my sister Jacque.  Following them was my oldest brother Joe, then my brother John, then my brother Jeff.  They thought they were all done having children, then four years later they got a suprise, ME.  So yes, that makes seven children all named with J's.

Janet has four children and three grandchildren.  Judy has three children, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  Jacque has one child, and three grandchildren.  Joe has three children.  John has three children, and three grandchildren.  Jeff has three children, and four grandchildren.  I am 50 years old and have been married to my best friend, Michael, for 27 years.  We were never blessed with children of our own, but we do have two fur babies, Siamese cats named Buffy and Angel.

So over their 64 years of marriage they have a lot of love spread around.  They are now 82 years old and I live right next door to them.  My brother Joe lives in a trailer on their lot.  He helps them out a whole bunch, and I do what I can to help also.  I'm so glad to be able to share this time in their lives with them.  They've been the best parents anyone could ask for.  My mom is my very best girlfriend.

Thank you Mom and Dad, I love you, and Merry Christmas.

Wryn and Mo

Happy Tuesday everybody.  Hope you're all having a good day.  It's beautiful here in Arizona today.  We have the "snow birds" showing up from the northern states and Canada right now.  They are all running around in shorts while we are in long pants and sweatshirts.  Those of us that live here full time get summer days around 110 to 114 degrees, sometimes even higher.  So, when we get to the high 60's we're cold.  Today we're in the 70's so our house is open.  My husband is in shorts but I'm not.

Today I have a digital Tiddly Inks image for you called Wryn and Mo - Love You Most, and you can get it HERE.  She's super adorable and was so fun to work with.  I'm learning to color black hair using my Copic cool grey markers.  This is actually my fourth attempt at getting the hair right.  I hope you like it.

I made her into a 6 x 6 card with pale yellow textured card stock for the base.  I paired it up with patterned paper from DCWV Fall Stack and green solid to matt with.  The "FRIENDS" was a word cut from a piece of the patterned paper from that same fall stack.  I then inked all the edges with distress ink.  The leaves are buttons that I cut the shanks off of and mounted with adhesive dots.

I colored them up using my Copics.  The colors I used are, Skin-E000, E00, E21, R20, Hair-C9, C7, C5, C3, Dress-B18, B14, B12, and Mo-E19, E15, E13, E11.

I will be submitting her as class homework for black hair using cool grey in Suzanne J. Dean's CMC online Copic Marker class.  I would also like to submit her to the CMC Copic Challenge Group.

Well, that's it for now.  I hope everyone has a nice day.  Would appreciate all comments.

Mod Marci

Hello again.  Did everybody have a good weekend?  It's been so beautiful here.  We finally get to leave our air conditioner off and have the house open.  I've been working on getting my craft studio tidied up.  I hate it when I don't put things back where they belong and pretty soon all surfaces are covered with bits of paper, punches, dies and all that stuff.  I need to start my Christmas cards so I MUST get it done.

Welllll, I have a La-La Land Crafts image for you today.  She is a rubber stamp called Mod Marci and you can get her here.  I made her into a 6 x 6 card using DCWV textured card stock for the base.  The patterned paper pack says "Retro Patterned Paper", I don't see a company name but it had two pieces of this awesome tie died paper.  One piece had an X cut through it but this piece, luckily, did not get cut.  I just love it, it's so perfect with Mod Marci.  I edged it with a MS paper edger.  The yellow mat behind her was cut with a Spellbinders die.

The Music Border is a die by C.C. Designs I purchased from All That Scraps, you can get it here.  It's so delicate and lacey.  I added black stickles to all the notes.  The Happy Birthday is a ribbon embelishment I had.

I colored her with Copic Markers, E21, E00, E000, R20, E50, E31, E25, B18, B14, B12, B00, E53, E57.

That's all for me today.  Will be back again soon with another project.  I believe my next project is going to be a Tidly Inks image.  I have a few (many) of them purchsed and printed, just waiting for me to color them up.  See ya.

Holly

Hello all.  I hope all of you on the east coast made it through Sandy ok.  Such sad sights on the news these last few days.  Here's hoping your clean up and recovery goes smoothly.

I meant to post a Halloween project but didn't get one done in time.  Oh well, next year.  I did color up a La-La Land Witch Marci and plan on submitting her for my lesson on the CMC Copic class for coloring black hat and shoes using the Copic cool greys.

For this post I colored a Wee Stamps image by artist Syvia Zet.  Her name is Holly and she's a digital image you can purchase here.  I tried to make her a little more fall rather than Christmas by using fall colors on the card.

I made her into a 6 x 6 card using DCWV card stock and patterned paper from 12 x 12 big stack packs I've had for a few years or so.  I popped her up on foam tape, added flat backed gems, and leaves w/stems using a Sizzix die.

I colored her up with my Copics.  The colors I used are E21, E00, E000, R20, Y23, YR23, E35, R81, R83, R85, BG72, BG75, BG78, E59, E57, BV31, B0000.

I accented her cheeks, head band, and sleeves with my Sharpie Poster Paint Pen, and glitzed her wings with Stickles.

Tomorrow is already friday so I hope you all have a good weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

I won blog candy

This is just a quick post to show and tell you about some blog candy I recently won.  It was from Sweet November Stamps.  What an awesome win.  It includes everything to make four cards just like the one Amy Young made using the stamp she designed called "Harmony".  She's a sweet angel with a french horn.  There are two other Sweet November Stamps in the "Angel" group all designed by Amy Young.  The other two are titled "Felicity" she is carrying a spray of flowers, and "Noelle" who is sitting down with a lamb in her arms.  As soon as she arrived I went out to All That Scraps and ordered the other two so I now have all three to do some Christmas cards with.

I had to show you the note from Amy.  You can visit her blog here.  She has other stamps all available at All That Scraps store.  I own a number of her "Sweet Novermber Stamps" in digi form and now these three in rubber.  Can't say enough about them, love, love, love them, and I want them all.  Thanks Amy.

Wee Stamps Silver Fairy

Well everybody, I'm back.  My dad is home from the hospital and slowly improving.  My mom ended up having a procedure done his last day in the hospital and then she got to come home with him.  Yahoo.  I stayed the night with them the first couple of nights home because my dad was in so much pain.  Thank you to all who wished him well.

We've had three beautiful days in a row here.  We live in the middle of the desert and it gets quite hot here.  A typical summer day gets around 114 degrees or higher.  Which of course means our house is closed up tight and air conditioner running 24/7.  The last three days our house has been open, getting nice fresh air.  The temp has been in the low 80's.  We love it when fall finally arrives.

My cats are so happy with the cooler temps that our male cat even came up on the bed to lay across my ankles last night.  Unfortunately my girl cat got jealous and chased him off the bed.  Mind you he is twice her size, but she let's him know who's boss.  Our two fur babies are Siamese litter mates.  She is a Blue Point named Buffy (The Vampire Slayer).  He is a Seal Point named Angel (The Vampire).  They are 9 years old and talk up a storm.

The card I have to share with you today is done with a digital image by Sylvia Zet of Wee Stamps.  The stamp is titled "Silver Fairy" and you can purchase this image here.  I just love her.  I first saw this image on Suzanne J. Deans YouTube video and fell in love with her.

I printed her a little on the large side so I had to make her into a 6 x 6 card.  As I've said, I'm using card stock and paper I've had on hand for a few years, trying to use things up. I used my corner rounder on her only, and left the mats all squared.

I used an EKSuccess flower punch, and a Fiskars small flower punch for the center of the flowers.  I then added Stickles to the center of the flowers, including the flowers on her head.

I colored her up in my Copics and submitted her as homework on my CMC Copic class 2.  The colors I used are, Skin - E000, E00, E21, R20 (cheeks).  Hair - E25, E31, E50.  Dress and wings - R81, R83, R85.  Flowers and bell - BG72, BG75.  Wrist and shin bands - E51, E57, E59.

Thank you for taking the time to stop in.  In my next post I'll "show & tell" you about some blog candy I just won.  Would appreciate comments.  Have a nice day.

"Friends"

It's Thursday and my dad is not home from the hospital.  They ran into some difficulties yesterday so the surgery was longer than they thought it would be.  He was going to come home yesterday but they ended up keeping him over night to give him antibiotics by I.V.  Today they had problems with one of the leads in his heart so he had to be taken back into surgery.  So, they have decided to keep him an additional night to continue with the antibiotics.  I sure hope nothing else goes wrong because my mother is an absolute wreck.  I spent the night with her last night and will do the same tonight.

Well, now on to my project for today.  This is another La-La Land Crafts image.  This is Marci w/watering can.  I made her into a 6 x 6 card.  The base card is DCWV solid card stock.  I used patterned paper and pink cardstock, tag, saying, and flower are items from a CardMaker Mag. card kit.  Gems, buttons and ribbon from my stock.

I colored Marci up with my Copics.  Skin - E00, E000, E11, R20 (cheeks).  Hair - E13, E15, E19.  Dress and hat - Y00, Y11, Y13, Y17.  Boots and flower - R81, R83, R85.  Watering can - G12.

Thanks for stopping in.  Hope you all have a nice day.

Luka W/Flowers

Hi everyone.  I can't believe it's already been over a week since my last post.  It's amazing how fast a week goes by now that I have a blog.  I've been a little under the weather, but am much better now.  I've also had concerns for my father.  He is 82 years young and having to slow down for the first time in his life.  On wednesday he will have a ICD and pace maker implanted in his chest.  Hopefully that will allow us to feel a little more comfortable knowing he's got emergency care built in.

I'm still learning my Copics so here is another image by La-La Land Crafts I used for one of the homework assignments.  I made him into a 6 x 6 card using my DCWV cardstock and patterned paper I've had for a few years.  The embelishments are by Sandylions, again stuff I've had for a long time.  I have so much stuff I need to use up before I can let myself get anything new.  So bear with me and my blog for a while as I don't even know if any of my stuff is still available for purchase.

The Copics I used with him are, Skin - E00, E11, E21, R20, Pants - B00, B02, B06, Hair - YR23, Y23, E35, Shirt - BG72, BG75, and BG78.

I WILL have another post up on thursday and I'll give you an update on my father's condition.  Hope you had a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping in.  Would appreciate any comments and "follow" me if you don't already.

Thanks again,
JR

"Hopeful"

How's everybody doing today?  I'm having a really good day.  I have my next project here for you to see.  I'm taking the CMC (Color Me Creative) Copic Marker class from Suzanne J. Dean, and I am thoroughly enjoying myself.  I have completed class #1 and have started class #2.  There are 5 classes plus an "All about hair" class for a total of 6 classes.  I can hardly wait to take the All About Hair class because that's what I have the hardest time with. You can find the link to her classes on my side bar.  There are other classes available through CMC besides the Copic classes with Suzanne.  You should go over there and check it out.  Through her class there is a book club called BookEndz which I have joined.  I have never belonged to a book club before but I'm loving that too.  We have live chats once a month to discuss the book of the month.  So much fun.  Of course we get off topic and start discussing everything under the sun, lol.

My project today was one of the digital images I bought from Wee Stamps.  The artist is Sylvia Zet and her images are so adorable.  This image is titled "Hopeful".  I usesd this image for one of the homework lessons for my CMC class.  I did her on Cryogen Irridescent White copic quality card stock purchased from Paper Temptress.  Background paper I've had on hand for a long time, package says Sonburn Wedding.  The blue flower I made using my Emagination paper punches and a mini button for the center.  Red satin ribbon from my stock.  At the last minute I dabbed the center of the image flowers and dots with Sassy Pink Smooch Paint.  I'm very sorry, but when I did her I didn't keep track of the Copic colors I used.  In future I will make note of all of that.

Well, I hope you like her.  I know I had fun coloring her.  I'll be back with another project in the next few days.  My goal is to post at least once a week.  Would appreciate any comments you might have.

Thanks,
JR

Ballerina Marci

Well, here it is, my very first posted project.  She is Ballerina Marci by La-La Land Crafts.  The patterned paper is from DCWV the Stack III, and the green glitter paper is DCWV Latte cardstock.  I have had both for so long I don't know if they are still available or not.  The flowers and "Beautiful" accents I've just had laying around and don't remember where I got them.

I colored Marci with my Copic Markers.  For the skin I used E000, E00, E11, and R20 blush.
Her hair is Y23, YR23, and E35.  Her outfit is R81, R83, and R85.

I am having a lot of fun learning to use my Copic Markers.  I will post another project soon.  Thank you for taking the time to look.

Introduction to my blog

Just wanted to let people know about my blog.  This is the first time I've ever had a blog so I'm very new and have a lot to learn.  In the future I will be posting pictures of my paper creations and maybe some of my other crafts.  I have done many types of crafts but my passion is with paper and miniatures.  I do paper quilling, parchment craft, stamping, die cutting and just about everything else with paper.  My newest addition to my paper crafting is Copic Markers.  I have gained a lot of inspiration from talented people on their blogs and Youtube and hope to some day be an inspiration to others out there myself.  Hope you follow my blog and enjoy my work.
